Logistics

The Corporate Logistics Team plan, move and control the flow of goods from point of origin to point of consumption across all divisions, markets and brands within Alshaya. Working closely with brand teams to ensure appropriate stock and delivery to store, the team manages a range of complex and diverse activities including shipping, freight, warehouse operations, customs clearance (in-bound and out-bound), compliance and project management.

Role Profile:

 Develop and manage large Distribution Centre operations which include Omni-channel fulfilment and Last Mile deliveries as well as 3rd Party Logistics Providers in assigned countries. Develop Employees to achieve company targets and goals. Ensure that security, inventory management and health and safety standards are maintained.  

The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:

Work closely with internal contacts to ensure stock flow from DC whilst improving productivity and managing operating costs.

  • Work closely with Merchandisers and Regional Managers to ensure continuous stock flow and distribution of supplies from Distribution Centres to stores and home deliveries including Omni-channel
  • Ensure continuous improvement in productivity and operating costs. 
  • Create, develop and maintain good working relationships and networks both internally and externally.

Develop, motivate, appraise and train Employees.

  • Continuously appraise Distribution Centre Management.
  • Drive performance by removing obstacles, improving processes, and recommend solutions.

Plan all inventory activities, appraise all procedures for controlling shrinkage and take corrective action where necessary.

  • Plan for stock take and cycle counts.
  • Ensure that stocktaking is conducted as laid down. Control Shrinkage in line company targets. Analyse results and advise corrective actions.

 

Ensure all housekeeping and health and safety standards are consistent with company policy.

  • Ensure that housekeeping and safety standards are consistent with company policy and laid down standards, and maintain standards appropriate to changing requirements/work practices.
  • Maintain security.
  • Lead by example with regard to compliance.

Provide accurate reports and support to internal and external contacts.

  • Provide accurate information and support to operations and merchandising teams. Liaise with outside service departments, third party providers and government agencies.

Control all controllable costs and manage all budgets, making recommendations for costs structures for new budgets

  • Control variable and fixed costs to within budgeted levels. Continuously explore opportunities to affect additional cost savings and improve service standards.

Ensure cost efficiency and service efficiency for all DC activity.

  • Ensure most cost effective and efficient methods of clearance/delivery of incoming and outgoing shipments. Continuously liaise with Customs and Municipal Departments, building up good working relations

Knowledge:

  • Supply chain management
  • Retail Operations including Home Deliveries, Omni-channel logistics, Shipping and Customs
  • Distribution Centre management
  • Automation or Semi automation

Experience:

  • Graduate qualification in logistics desirable
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a Senior Logistics position managing large distribution centres with 24/7 operations
  • Strong Omni-channel DC operations experience including managing Inhouse Last Mile Deliveries.
  • Significant change management experience within Logistics operations
