ROLE SCOPE & DELIVERABLES:

  • As a Data Steward, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and fitness for purpose of Alshaya's data assets across the tech stack, including the metadata for those data assets.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Data Quality: Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across all Alshaya systems by implementing data quality standards and practices.
  • Metadata Management: Maintain and manage metadata for data assets, ensuring comprehensive documentation and accessibility for stakeholders.
  • Data Governance Policies: Support the development and enforcement of data governance policies and procedures to maintain high standards of data integrity and compliance.
  • Data Lineage: Track and document data lineage to provide transparency and traceability of data flows within the Alshaya tech stack.
  • Data Cataloging: Assist in the implementation and management of data cataloging solutions to facilitate data discovery and accessibility.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, digital, ecommerce, and business units, to ensure alignment on data governance practices and objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of data governance practices within the organization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to promote data governance awareness and foster a data-driven culture within the organization.

 

KEY STAKEHOLDERS:

  • Adds direct value to: customers, SLT, division brand colleagues, Digital Hub.
  • Works with: Technology teams, Operations, Finance, Digital, Data & Analytics community of practice.

 

Role Overview:

The Data Steward will work in Alshaya's Customer & Technology division to prioritize, build, and operate data governance solutions for Alshaya. This role is critical to our ambition for best-in-class frictionless omnichannel customer experience. The right candidate will have opportunities to lead high-impact work and contribute to the growth of our data governance practice.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data governance frameworks, data quality tools, data cataloging solutions, and data lineage practices. Knowledge of data management platforms and technologies is preferred.
  • Business Knowledge: Experience in applying data governance practices to large-scale B2C data environments and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Professional Skills: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective data governance policies. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Industry Experience: Preferably experience with large-scale B2C data and digital transformation. Experience in Alshaya countries of operation is a plus.
  • Behaviours: Commitment to continuous skills improvement and self-learning, timeliness, collaborative approach, ownership of work outcomes, empathy towards customers, and alignment with Alshaya values. A start-up mindset is essential as we are developing a new capability for the enterprise.
