Role Profile:
The role for the Assistant Counsel is essential to the business. His main task is to ensure that the day-to-day business activities are complying with the local laws and regulations by providing legal services, advices and assistance to the business.
The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Assist the Associate Counsel in conducting his services.
 Helping in providing legal advice on various matters with the goal of minimizing cases against the company and consequently reducing the cost of external counsel.
 Drafting and reviewing simple legal documents.
 Assisting with regulatory compliance and licensing issues.
 Helping in finalizing formalities relating to the formation of new companies, when required.
 Helping in conducting company secretarial matters such as preparing the minutes of any required shareholders/directors meetings.
 Helping in managing company’s litigation including liaising with external counsel.
 Reporting to the Associate Counsel.
 Working closely with the Associate Counsel and other members of the Retail Legal Department, other relevant business teams and with a range of clients internally across all departments.
Knowledge:
 The ability to conduct proper legal research and to present the results in an adequate form.
 Reasonable general knowledge of local laws and regulations and legal formalities.
 Reasonable ability of drafting simple legal documents.
 Bilingual (Arabic and English – both spoken and written), as well as having reasonable communication skills.
 Ability to provide litigation support using sound judgement.
 Confident in dealing with internal clients and with the full range of assigned tasks.
 Sound, confident judgement and reasonable influencing skills.
Experience:
 One year or more

 Good written, reading and spoken Arabic and good written, reading and spoken English.
