Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical FinOps Engineer to join our cloud operations team. This role will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud and hybrid infrastructure costs across Azure, AWS, OCI, and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud financial management, cost governance, and usage optimization strategies, with hands-on experience in multi-cloud environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Cost Management & Optimization:

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud spend across Azure, AWS, OCI, and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and workload optimization.
  • Implement and maintain tagging strategies and cost allocation models for accurate chargeback/showback.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to align cloud usage with budget and business goals.

 

FinOps Strategy & Governance:

  • Develop and enforce FinOps policies, standards, and best practices across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Establish and manage cloud budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Drive accountability for cloud spend through stakeholder engagement and financial transparency.
  • Support cloud procurement and contract negotiations with vendors and service providers.

 

Tooling & Automation:

  • Implement and manage cloud cost management tools and dashboards.
  • Automate cost reporting, anomaly detection, and usage alerts.
  • Integrate FinOps practices into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
  • Evaluate and recommend third-party tools for cost visibility and optimization.

 

Cross-Platform Expertise:

  • Azure: Cost Management + Billing, Azure Advisor, Reservations, Hybrid Benefit
  • AWS: Cost Explorer, Budgets, Trusted Advisor, Savings Plans, Compute Optimizer
  • OCI: Cost Analysis, Budgets, Usage Reports, Cost Governance
  • On-Prem: Work with infrastructure teams to track and optimize hardware, licensing, and energy costs

 

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work closely with finance, procurement, DevOps, and cloud engineering teams.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to leadership on cloud spend trends and optimization efforts.
  • Educate teams on FinOps principles and promote a culture of cost awareness.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud cost management or FinOps roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, and at least one other cloud or on-prem platform.
  • Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, billing structures, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with cost management tools and scripting for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or similar certification.
  • Experience with cloud-native and third-party cost management platforms.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of ITIL, cloud governance frameworks, and financial reporting.

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
