Alshaya’s Central Production Facility (CPF) in Kuwait currently employs more than 150 people and manufactures food products for brands such as Starbucks. Now is an exciting time to join CPF as they embark on plan to improve, innovate and build additional revenue streams.

Role details
Role and context

Purpose

  • To drive a quality control function on a day to day basis whilst achieving set foods safety & quality Standards.
  • To support the team in ensuring products are produced in line with the set SOP’s and standards in order to achieve the end product complying to Quality and Food safety standards.
  • To ensure all products are produced in line with the set HACCP / Alshaya & host brand standards and CCP control points are met ^& PRPs are followed without fail.
  • To act as immediate point of contact in absence of the Site Quality Supervisor.

 

Context

The Site Quality coordinator has the responsibility to:

 

 

  • Daily routine online/offline Quality Control checks to ensure product quality & safety.
  • Verification of product and process compliance including the CCP verification and managing related check sheets.
  • Responsible for daily GMP monitoring throughout the plant which includes site quality inspections, personal hygiene audits, pest monitoring, PPE compliance audit and procedure adherence by operations.
  • Verification of quality standards during raw material receiving as per frequency and finished product dispatching process audits.
  • Inspection on product attributes / dimensions to make sure the products produced is as per quality / brand specification & regular conduct sensory evaluation / positive release.
  • Reporting & escalation of food safety & quality issues with regards to raw materials, work in process & finished products & raising of complaints to concern through Alshaya software systems.
  • Keep record of all trackers, maintain upto date info on timely manner & produce reports as and when required.
  • Update and maintain daily KPI records with respect to complaints received & CPMU calculation.
  • Date / Product label verification related with raw material, WIP products, finished products and expiry checks.
  • Coordinate with concerned departments and help in customer complaint investigation and internal Non-Conformance issues.
  • Coordinate with other depts / support services to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented against the internal audits, daily site quality audits & complaints & are verified on ongoing basis.
  • Managing routine / adhoc micro analysis, sample collections for lab testing based on schedule, arranging retests, follow up with lab & keep tracking.
  • Performing Verification of internal calibration for equipment’s like temp probes, scales etc… by liaising with the production team as per agreed frequency.
  • In the absence of SQS assume full responsibility of the QC activities and perform with minimal supervision.
  • Perform new product monitoring & review of process during New product launches by NPD/Brands.
  • Creating date code labels (internal labels, outer labels & final product labels) during product launches/changes,
  • In overall, Perform Operational & inhouse quality checks, post PPM checks, cleaning verification & product evaluation based on risk assessment without compromising the product quality & food safety.

 

 

 

 

Key Outputs

In addition to being able to undertake all the key outputs of the team member role, the Site Quality coordinator will also be expected to undertake the following tasks:

 

Production

  • Support the production by creation of Work Instructions and Quality alerts
  • Education & training of staffs using Tool box talks (TBT).
  • Involvement with NPD in product development trials and trainings.
  • Drive costs savings through efficient use of resources at their disposal;
  • Audit paperwork / check sheets verification from production.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Generate suggestions for continuous improvements;
  • Actively Participate in continuous improvement initiatives / projects within the department;
  • Brain storming ideas to minimize customer complaints & FB – CPMU reduction.  

 

Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance to all manufacturing checks and take corrective action where appropriate;
  • Ensure that finished and intermediate goods meet customer expectation / standard and deviations are controlled and managed;
  • Act on any quality issues, out of spec/non-conforming products/activities seen anywhere in the factory;
  • Attending taste panels as and when requested & during regular site visits, new product launches.
  • Carry out line / area audits every 2 hours. Record non-conformances and take appropriate action;
  • Report any non-routine cleaning requirements to the site Hygiene Supervisor & Ensure that clean-as-you-go practices are maintained by plant operatives;
  • Escalation to Production Manager and Engineering any concerns relating to operation and functionality of CCP’s;
  • Ensure Management is notified of all CCP rejections, critical quality/ food safety issues & non-conformances.

  • Understands the hazards in their area of responsibility & ensures the team are in safe working environment;
  • Never walks away from unsafe action or condition;
  • Understands his Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to safe working practices (WI’s) Ensure compliance to relevant policies and procedures (i.e. PPE policy);
  • Supports and encourages the reporting of near misses and complete near miss forms;
  • Report accidents immediately to Management team.

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing environment in a quality background.

2+ year experience in food industry as quality technician.
