eCommerce is an exciting new support function within Alshaya as the business launches transactional websites for a number of the 75+ brands and 15+ countries within the Alshaya portfolio. The function is rapidly building Alshaya’s multi-channel capability to deliver customers’ choice and convenience when shopping in a number of rapidly growing online emerging markets. The function is split in to 4 key areas – Trading & Merchandising, Operations & Program Management, Design & Content and Digital Marketing.

*This is a full-time role that is based in Kuwait, and would require your physical relocation to fulfill job tasks.

The Role:

eCommerce is developing  rapidly in the Middle East and with Alshaya being named the region's best multi-brand franchise operator there is no better time to join our growing business function. You will have the opportunity to lead innovation in the ecommerce in the Middle East and deliver valuable results to the business.

As an Online Category Manager for prestigious brands which launched or are to be launched in Alshaya, you will define the tactical and strategic direction of online product lines within operating markets. You will also be required to assess and manage the product business mix to achieve financial and business objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Driving success of the online categories through the effective merchandising and trading of online products for brands in the operating markets
  • Delivering world-class product presentation and merchandising of products within their specified categories
  • Supporting the development and provision of KPI reporting, daily review of sales, margin, traffic, conversion
  • Providing guidance, coaching and management to the eCommerce Product Merchandising team
  • You will be challenged to stay up-to-date with regional competitors and global business trends, reviewing critical information as it becomes available and innovating the solutions which will help shape the ecommerce field in this emerging market
  • Manage category contribution to sales and margin targets against budget and short term forecasts
  • Manage the end-to-end process for defining, enriching and merchandising of all products for the online channel, ensuring products are promoted and priced in line with the category strategy and margin targets
  • Monitoring and reporting on sales performance, recommending improvements that will grow sales and margin where opportunities arise
  • Responsible for daily management and review of product stock availability and manage site product visibility, to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Identify trends against forecast and previous performance, recommending and implementing improvements
  • Review Category sales forecasts & stock requirements for the online channel with eCommerce product merchandisers and input into the brand merchant teams for the forecasting process

The ideal candidate for this role will have exceptional communications and interpersonal skills, which will be required in order to manage active communication channels between rapidly developing team of eCommerce Product Merchandisers and key internal stake holders, including brand marketing teams.

Exposure to ecommerce at an operational level, including category and business planning through to implementation, is an ideal requirement for the role.
