An exciting opportunity to join Alshaya’s corporate communications team as External Communications Manager. With a portfolio of nearly 90 international brands across diverse sectors, 53,000 employees, and over 4,000 stores, cafes and restaurants in markets across the Middle East and beyond, Alshaya is a dynamic and growing business, widely respected for its retail excellence.

As a persuasive, creative communicator, you will contribute to our overall reputation management agenda, with a focus on delivering a positive flow of corporate news and information to media, supporting stakeholder engagement activities (governments, NGOs, communities, etc) and providing media relations/editorial content support services for our brands. This role is based in Kuwait. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to development of the annual External Communications plan
  • Developing and placing high quality editorial content which supports our key messaging objectives across print and digital channels
  • Providing C-suite support on Arabic content and stakeholder engagement
  • Managing our corporate press office
  • Managing delivery of PR events that involve the Alshaya brand (expansion, community, etc)
  • Helping brands deliver high quality PR campaigns through support on editorial content and activity
  • Managing the performance of our corporate website
  • Provide support on crisis/issues management as required
  • Effective reporting in areas of responsibility
  • Management of direct reports, supporting your team’s learning and development

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Good local knowledge, cultural and political awareness
  • Understanding of regional media landscape and excellent local media contacts
  • Strong story telling skills and ability to ideate multi-channel content
  • Strong track record in communications sector with proven team, project and process management skills
  • Experience of managing agencies
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • A university degree, ideally within communications or a related subject, is essential
